Signature and ratification of the Convention on Biological Diversity

 

Signature

During the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the Republic of Niger has signed the Convention on Biological Diversity on 11 June 1992.

Ratification

The instrument of ratification of the Republic of Niger was deposited at the United Nations in New York on 25 July 1995. The Republic of Niger became hence a Contracting Party to the Convention on that day.

According to Article 36, point 3, of the Convention, the Convention on Biological Diversity entered into force for the Republic of Niger on 23 October 1995.
