After signing the Convention on Biological Diversity on 5th June, 2002, Ghana confirmed her commitment by ratifying the Convention on 29th August, 1994. Soon after the ratification, a "National Country Study" was undertaken in1995. In 2002 a National Biodiversity Committee (NBC) was established to lead Ghana in the implementation of the Convention. The NBC supervised the preparation of a "National Biodiversity Strategy" Document and is currently finalizing the "Action Plan Document" of the Strategy. 

The implementation of the Convention in Ghana involve the following :

Ghana is currently seeking for funds to undertake a project which will review her "National Country Study Report"  and also prepare her National Reports. The project, will also review the "Strategy Document" and finalize the "Action Plan". It is hoped that this project will start in the early part of 2005.
