What future for biodiversity in Belgium?In the context of Rio+10, a symposium was organised at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences with the aim to evaluate the implementation in Belgium of engagements taken at Rio concerning biological diversity.
The first part of the symposium briefly presented the existing policy and the action already undertaken for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity.
The second part started with an overview of the state of biodiversity in Belgium, then continued with the presentation of successful experiences on the integration of biodiversity in sectoral policies.
Tien jaar na Rio.
Hoe is het met de biodiversiteit in België?In de aanloop tot Rio+10, is in het Koninklijk Belgisch Instituut voor Natuurwetenschappen een symposium georganiseerd om het werk in België, met betrekking tot de verbintenissen inzake biologische diversiteit aangegaan in Rio, te evalueren.
In het eerste deel werden de bestaande akkoorden en de genomen maatregelen inzake behoud en duurzaam gebruik van de biologische diversiteit kort voorgesteld.
Het tweede deel begon met een beknopte stand van zaken van de biodiversiteit in België en van de problemen gekoppeld aan het verdwijnen ervan. Daarna kwamen casestudies aan bod die succesvolle ervaringen aantonen inzake integratie van biodiversiteit in het sectorbeleid.

Quel avenir pour la biodiversité en Belgique?Dans le contexte de Rio+10, un symposium a été organisé à l'Institut royal des Sciences naturelles de Belgique afin d'évaluer la mise en oeuvre en Belgique des engagements pris à Rio en matière de diversité biologique.
La première partie du symposium a présenté brièvement les accords existants et les actions prises en matière de conservation et d'utilisation durable de la diversité biologique.
La seconde partie a commencé par un bref état de lieux de la biodiversité en Belgique, puis a enchaîné sur la présentation d'expériences réussies sur l'intégration de la biodiversité dans les politiques sectorielles.
